About This Calculator
The Australian Annual Leave Calculator helps full-time employees plan their holidays with confidence. Enter your current leave balance, set your state for public holiday accuracy, and add your planned trips — the calculator instantly shows whether you're safe to book.
Who Is This For?
This tool is designed for Australian employees who want to plan multiple trips, test "what-if" scenarios, or simply check whether they'll have enough annual leave accrued before booking travel. It's particularly useful if your HR system doesn't show projected future balances.
How It Works
The calculator uses your current leave balance and standard accrual rates (20 days per year for full-time employees) to project your balance forward. It automatically accounts for weekends and public holidays in your selected state — so the leave days shown are actual working days you'd need to take off.
Add as many trips as you like — confirmed bookings or hypothetical ideas. The results update in real-time, giving you a clear verdict: "Safe to book", "Short by X days", or "Not enough leave".
Assumptions & Limitations
- Assumes standard full-time accrual of 20 days (4 weeks) per year
- Accrual is calculated progressively on a daily basis
- Weekends (Saturday & Sunday) are excluded from leave calculations
- Public holidays are sourced for your selected Australian state/territory
- This tool provides estimates only — it is not employment or legal advice
